Let me start by thanking Onel and Pam Perez, owners of The Guava Tree Truck. Let’s start with the obvious, The Guava Tree Truck serves some of the best food in the metroplex and definitely the best cuban food I’ve had. Last Sunday at the Mckinney Kids Fest, The Guava Tree Truck debuted the Goo Lawn Sandwich. This was a very exciting day for our business but more importantly for our family.
It was not more than a few months ago that my daughter shared a goal that she set for herself. We were all cleaning up after dinner, when my little one walked up to my wife and I and said “ I’m going to open a food truck”. We smiled and told her how great that was and asked her to tell us more. With her eyes full of wonder she proceeded to share her top secret recipes, and how she was going to employ her brother while she ran the show. My wife and I have worked very hard to instill the importance of family and hard work from a very early age so we’re very excited but not surprised when she brought to us her new business venture.
Passion is contagious. You see our little girl was inspired by the passion and energy that she saw when we first met Onel and Pam early this year. We were at a family outing and decided to try The Guava Tree truck. As we tried the delectable Lechon Asado (Slow Roasted Pork Over Rice) and Yuca Fries for the first time our little girl was captivated by the idea of feeding people from a truck. Pam and Onel very graciously opened their doors and gave us a tour of the truck and our little girl was captivated.
I share this story with all of you because The Guava Tree Truck is more that just a food truck. Their commitment to exquisite food and great customer service is exceptional. What might of be considered a small gesture to some sparked excitement and curiosity in a child, and that’s a special thing no matter how slice it.
Visit them this Saturday April 9, from 12 - 7 at Frisco StrEATS, Downtown Frisco on Main Street.
